Thinking Independence Day Out Of The Box

Last week, we celebrated the biggest day in the history of independent India by doing one of the things we do every year at this time of the year – creating a unique India-centric memento for Kotak Mahindra Bank to gift to their top clients; that include CEO’s of the companies that hold their salary accounts at Kotak Mahindra Bank.

These are extremely valuable relationships for Kotak Mahindra and Independence Day is a momentous day for all Indians. Naturally, the keepsake had to be something interesting, memorable, and pride-inducing.

How did we meet this annual Independence Day challenge?

Well, what is the most stirring moment that comes to mind when you think of India? It’s the national anthem, right? Just listening to it gives us Indian goose-bumps. Unquestionably, it’s the most memorable Indian tune ever composed. And so we thought it fit to create a desk top installation that celebrates this heart-rending and inspiring song.

Jana Gana Mana Box

To begin with, we engineered a base made of steam beech wood. On this we affixed a rectangular plaque on which were engraved the words of the Indian national anthem and Independence Day wishes. Alongside this engraved greeting we placed a musical box (with an image of the creator of the national anthem), which when opened played the national anthem in all its glory, while revealing a beautiful artwork that showcased the beauty of India.
